the Insurtech Startup born and raised with mediaman
In the beginning, there was an idea: a development in the insurance industry (growth in niche products such as smartphone or bicycle insurance) needed a digital solution (integration of niche products into traditional insurance sales processes). mediaman worked together with massUp founders Fabian Fischer and Dominik Groenen to refine the idea and, in close collaboration with the insurance industry, bring it to market. MLP Mobilschutz was the first product to be sold via the massUp white label platform.
As long as mediaman exists we have been close collaborators with our insurance industry clients. Our industry knowledge, then, was fertile ground for an idea that has since become a company. The challenge: “how can traditional insurance companies and agents participate in the growing niche product market?”
Legacy systems are too complex to handle the fragmented niche business. At the same time insurance of smartphones, bicycles, designer handbags and similar products are becoming more and more popular. massUp offers not only the products but also the technical solution.
The Road to Success
The solution had to seamlessly integrate into existing systems and allow for niche product sales across all channels – and determine agent commissions. To achieve this goal, the founders worked closely with Germany’s insurance industry giants.
This allowed them to gather requirements, offer, discuss, and improve possible solutions. The resulting white label platform was first implemented by MLP. Soon, additional products will follow their MLP Mobilschutz. massUp’s next customers are ready to go.
Founding and Financing
Eventually, we were so convinced of the idea that massUp GmbH was founded. mediaman’s holding company is a massUp shareholder and one of our managing partners now holds the same position in the new company. Fabian Fischer has learned a lot about startup financing, since then, especially during the (very successful) participation in Startup Bootcamp London.
